Over the years there have been many things about gas appliances that have come to light. They have some problem areas that a lot of people have never even dreamed of and they need to take the time to over look the issues before they call the repair man. This is the most common thing as the solutions to a lot of problems can be Problemsdone by the home owner without having to make the time to call the expensive places to come fix the issue. If you take the time to understand the appliance and the way it works you can easily save yourself a large repair bill. There are some things that you can not do yourself but many of them you can.

In many parts of the country there is a problem that the gas is not flowing through the valve the way it should be. For this reason you have the low pilot light and an even lower flame area on the furnace. Most people would associate this with a bad gas valve, which is very possible but there is another problem that many people, even the repair men, tend to overlook. There is a spider common in the country that loves the smell of gas. This spider will take up residence inside the gas valve port and make a nest. It will spin a very thick web over the port and start to lay eggs. Eventually the spider dies and leaves the nest over the port. Now this nest and web retard the flow of the gas from the valve to the pilot light. To repair this all you need to do is shut off the valve of gas and remove the line from the port. With a small cotton swab simply remove the web and you are all set to go.Hazard Gas Can Be Dangerous

On a gas range there is the problem when the oven part will not shut off. This is a very common problem and it all has to do with the thermostat. Some times the thermostat will go bad, which simply means that the end of the line that it is attached to has become damaged in some way. When this happens the electric unit does not know what it needs to do and it will not turn off the flow of gas to the oven. To solve this problem you should shut off the gas line to the range. Once you have done this give the range and oven enough time too cool off. Then you should remove the thermostat. The main port is attached to the knob where you turn the oven on and off. Once removed take the whole unit to the local supply store and purchase a new one.
